Police say the body of a missing 94-year-old Virginia man has been found by a mine pit.

Arthur Ratai was last seen Monday at his home. His body was found Thursday about a half mile from his home.

Virginia Police Chief Dana Waldron says Ratai’s death appears to be accidental.

A .22-caliber handgun also was missing from Ratai’s home, but police do not suspect foul play.
