Minnesotan Sam Kavanaugh, a Minneapolis teacher from Carlton, Minnesota, recently won the $250,000 grand prize of the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.
In 2019, Kavanaugh won $156,00 during a five-game streak on Jeopardy!. When he became unemployed during the pandemic, he spent his time focusing in on the Tournament of Champions. A fellow Minnesotan native, Nibir Sarma, who one the Jeopardy! College Championship joined Kavanaugh throughout much of this journey, but was eliminated in the semi-final round.
Kavanaugh beat out Jennifer Quail, a wine tasting consultant from Michigan, and Veronica Vichit-Vadakan, a librarian from Oregon to be crowned this years champion.👑
